In Alabama, a young couple had just given birth to a set of baby twins which was exciting to them for a reason different than it would be for most. As soon as they arrived home with their little boy and girl, they didn’t waste any time putting them to use in a way that left authorities in complete disbelief.
For three months, since the day they twin babies were born on January 22, their parents, 19-year-old Jordan Lanie Swenson, and 20-year-old, Marion Austin Dycus, never took them out of the house, since they were busy inside doing other things. Almost exactly three months to the day they had been born, the couple finally took them out on April 27, only for a trip back to the medical center after things had gone unbelievably wrong. Now, the couple is going to prison after what was found on the little ones’s bodies.
According to AL.com, from the day the couple brought their twins home, they began to “torture, willfully abuse, cruelly beat, or otherwise willfully maltreat the child by causing physical injury which created the substantial risk of death on multiple occasions.” The babies bodies were covered in deep, dark bruises, mostly on their heads and faces. The baby girl was suffering respiratory system failure and there were bite marks on her face. Her little brother suffered broken ribs, all from their parent’s perpetual abuse.
An injury was found on the girl and it was a torn frenulum, which is the fold of skin under t he tongue between the lip and gum. This may have been caused by excessive screaming and crying when the abuse happened, as she suffered one beating after another, for no other reason than the couple’s demented pleasure.
Swenson and Dycus were taken into custody after the hospital called the police to report on the children’s conditions. They are each being held on $1 million bond and better never see the light of day again. The only penalty suitable for this crime is for inmates to enforce the same torture on them in a jail cell for the period of their sentences.
If they didn’t want these kids, they should have adopted them out to a pair who could love them and desperately desires a family. Instead, they made the decision that it would be a good time to neglect them for hours, days, weeks, and month on end, to the edge of death.
